What is an excellent organization?

This chapter explores the development of the ideas of the Attributes of Excellence School, which has its roots in some of the early military and diplomatic writings on strategy. The influential ideas of Tom Peters and others are explored, along with similar approaches in Japan, Europe and Britain. The critiques of this kind of approach will also be examined, as will its relevance for the voluntary nonprofit sector.
