ABSTRACT
‘Soccer is dominated by chance’ was the conclusion of Reep and Benjamin (1968). Furthermore, for all teams everywhere at every level, however they play, there are the same patterns of chance that occur and recur over a series of games, and these were classified ‘near constants’ (Benjamin et al., 1971). Whilst not exact, they are near enough for this description.
