ABSTRACT

In empirical studies on the usage of skills in the context of sport (Bos, 1984; 1987), it was found that if trainers obtain information on the level of physical fitness and technique (motor skills), they do so mostly by way of self-constructed tests; of course, this results in problems when comparing data collected earlier and later, for example. Another finding in these studies is that if trainers do not employ scientific tests, this is mainly because of practical reasons (test takes too long to administer, and so on)
