ABSTRACT
The soccer boot has evolved along traditional lines with features being added gradually to take account of the requirements of players and the trends within the game. Although manufacturers take a systematic approach to boot design, there have been few reported scientific investigations of boot performance which have then been fed back into design. Notable exceotions are the work reported by Valiant et al. (1988) and Podano et al. (1988).
