ABSTRACT

Prevention of soccer injuries is a major aim in the Dutch governmental policy directed to the reduction of incidence of injuries by 25% by the year 2000. Only three controlled studies on the efficacy of prevention procedures were found in the literature. Ekstrand (1982) studied the efficacy of a prophylactic programme consisting of 7 items in a randomized trial in a male senior soccer division in Sweden. A 75% reduction in injuries was found.
