ABSTRACT

Research on the biomechanics of the golf swing has been carried out to understand and improve a golfer's performance. A summary of all research applied to the golf swing was provided in an attempt to interpret current scientific knowledge for its practical application. Most investigations have focused on wrist cocking and uncocking, ground reaction forces, and electromyography of the upper body. These studies alone, do not completely describe this most interesting and complex skill. For this reason, it is essential to adopt a more holistic approach to research on the golf swing through three-dimensional modelling of the golfer for determining the kinematics and kinetics of the entire link system.
