ABSTRACT

This paper summaries the results from both research studies and actual golf course monitoring of ground water for pesticide and nitrate contamination. In both cases there have been few studies conducted. For the most part, the real life golf course results compare well with the controlled research studies. Where differences exist, a more careful examination of the nature of the studies revealed a good explanation of the differences. A newly established site with limited turf cover appears to have the greatest potential for excessive pesticide leaching.
