ABSTRACT

This study aims to investigate the amount and kinds of pesticide applied on 59 golf courses in Korea. In the previous studies with similar themes as this one, we have referred to only 4 golf courses in general concerning the pesticides and their orders frequently used on golf courses in Korea. The total amount of pesticides used on all the golf courses in Korea in 1991 was 78,555 kg, and thereby the average amount of pesticides per golf course was 1,331 kg. Most frequently used pesticides were thiophanatemethyl, bensulide, polyoxin D-thiram, fenitrothion, triadimefon, carbofuran, napropamide, tolclos-methyl, iprodione, etc.. The applied amount of pesticides on golf courses located in the vicinity of big cities was twice as much as used in other areas.
