ABSTRACT

Construction is becoming extremely competitive as the industry strives for survival. In time of recession, where there is little prospect of growth, the demands for profitability produce the drives to cost cutting, improved efficiency, total quality and value for money. However, as de Bono (1993) points out, regenerating any business towards a successful future will require more than better competition, a change will be needed in attitude of mind, strategy and concept design towards systemic thinking based on human value integration. We believe integrating values will become the new trend in successful business thinking. Therefore future information systems must design and offer integrated values, so that

the producer will integrate not just with the customer, but with all the complex values of the customers’ lifestyles. For, we all now live in a complex world with many values, where a building is no longer just a piece of engineering. But how does the value that the building constructor offers integrate into the complex life values of the buyer or consumer? These are going to be the important integrating values in the future.
