ABSTRACT
The paper gives considerations on the engineering system synthesis from the point of view of reliability and safety. The system reliability is shaped with various types of redundancy, e.g. structural, functional, parametric, informational, etc. redundancy. Increase in reliability reduces system vulnerability, which results from loosening correlation between system reliability and system safety. The safeguarding equipment to ward off the hazards that occur in the course of system operation is the primary factor to ensure the system safety.
