ABSTRACT

Mechanical systems have a number of very specific features, particularly relating to character and mode of failures. The material must be thoroughly investigated for mechanical properties such as fatigue life or maximum strength to permit efficient and economical, as well as safe design of component structures.

The method described in this paper has been conceived in order to over come the lack of rapid data recording and processing equipment and of fatigue testing equipment capable of applying random loadings for service simulation testing of components.

The results of its application are restriced to transport facility elements.
