ABSTRACT
planning for education in construction oriented programs in Saudi Arabia, requires a reasonably accurate picture of the demand for the graduates of these programs. An important source of information to form such a picture of the demand for the graduate, and subsequently their programs, is the student enrollment statistics in these programs. Recently, however, it was noted that the enrollment in such programs, experienced cycles of fluctuations, which were thought to be caused by the labor market demand. It is expected that national development plans have greatly influenced the demand for such professions, therefore, affecting the enrollment in such programs. In this study, we have attempted to establish the link between the national development plans, and the enrollment in construction oriented programs, in Saudi Arabia. The objective would be to facilitate planning properly for such programs.
La planification des enseignements dans les programmes à orientation bâtiment/travaux publics en Arabie saoudite exige d’avoir une représentation relativement précise de la demande en diplômés de ces programmes. L’une des sources d’information les plus importantes qui contribue à l’élaboration de cette représentation sont les statistiques d’inscriptions des étudiants à ces programmes. Récemment cependant, on a pu noter des fluctuations cycliques dans le nombre d’inscriptions, fluctuations imputées au marche du travail. On peut penser que les plans de développement nationaux ont considérablement influencé la demande dans ce type de compétence, affectant par retour les inscriptions à ces programmes. La présente étude tente d‘établir un lien entre les plans de développement de l’Arabie saoudite à l’échelle nationale et les inscriptions à des programmes à orientation bâtiment/travaux publics, afin d’arriver à faciliter la planification de tels programmes.
