ABSTRACT
Photogrammetry is the science of obtaining reliable spatial information, usually in the form of three-dimensional co-ordinates, by taking measurements of two-dimensional photographs. A rather more tongue-incheek description is that photogrammetry is ‘the art of avoiding measurement’. Basically any complex three-dimensional object can often be measured and modelled more efficiently by using photogrammetric techniques instead of conventional surveying or manual measurement methods.
