ABSTRACT
It really is a great honour for me to speak to this distinguished group and gives me great pleasure to attend this inaugural conference of the new centre. As a Chinese economist I am really delighted to find one more new centre for economic and business studies on China set up in Europe. In recent years, I have seen this growth of interest in China. I have been told, that some classes in this management school already have
over 50 per cent of their students from China – this constitutes my only worry. Perhaps you should re-name your school ‘The Chinese School of Business Studies’ in Lancaster University, with both Mandarin and English as official languages.
