ABSTRACT

TFC is the expansion of the radial carpal fibrocartilage, which lies between the ulna and the carpus. Forced dorsiflexion and supination with adduction or abduction can cause damage of the TFC. Anatomical variation of a longer ulna can be associated with an impingement and risk of an injury. Arthrography or an MRI scan can reveal the diagnosis. Treatment with rest and immobilisation in a brace for 6 weeks may relieve symptoms. Arthroscopic surgical excision will lead to return to sport in 8 weeks.
