ABSTRACT

Patients often ask to be given their usual food when they are hospitalized. This may be for religious reasons (Islam, for example) or simply not to change their customary diet. Certain beliefs, moreover, are linked to diet, where certain foods are recommended when one is ill, and certain plants and decoctions for specific complaints. For members of the family, also, it can be very important to continue to prepare food for the patient as a means of continuing to care for them.
