ABSTRACT

A firm established in 1900 in St. Georgen, Germany, by Christian Steidinger. Originally devoted to clock making, the company turned to gramphone motors in 1906. Its successful spring motors were modified in 1927, resulting in a combination electricalmechanical drive system. By 1976 the firm was employing 3,500 persons in 12 factories, making turntables, amplifiers, tuners, cassette decks, and complete audio systems. About half of its production is exported.
