ABSTRACT

American singer and comedian, born in Detroit. He performed alone and with minstrel groups, and made cylinders in 1896, followed by discs for Berliner. In about 1900, he began recording for Edison, making 36 vaudeville numbers and solo ballads, plus 19 duets with Arthur Collins. He also worked for Lambert, Zonophone, Victor (and Monarch), and Columbia (to 1907). Among his Columbia two-minute cylinders were “Sweet Annie Moore” (#31584) and “Wrap Me in the Stars and Stripes” (#31587). He died in Rome, New York.
