ABSTRACT

A major audio writer and journalist, Nousaine was born in Brainerd, Minnesota, and went on to receive an M.B.A. from Michigan State University in 1971. He retired in 1996 from Ameritech, where he had managed a staff of graduate analysts investigating economic and technology obsolescence, and has since been a regular contributor to Audio magazine (until it folded), Car Stereo Review, Stereo Review, The Sensible Sound, Sound & Vision, Mobile Entertainment, and The Audio Critic. He was cofounder and president of the Society of Depreciation Professionals, has been central region USA vice president of the Audio Engineering Society, and was the founder of the Prairie State Audio Construction Society. In addition to his regular journalistic and product-reviewing work, Nousaine has designed, conducted, analyzed, and published the results of an extensive series of controlled listening tests, as well as in-room low frequency and surround-speaker placement experiments.
