ABSTRACT

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rabbitt was raised in East Orange, New Jersey. As a teenager, he began working in local clubs in the New York City-New Jersey area. In the late 1960s, Rabbitt relocated to Nashville in search of a career as a performer. He initially found success as a songwriter, notably with “Kentucky Rain,” which was covered by Elvis, earning Presley his 50th gold record (RCA #47-9791; 1970; #16 pop). In 1974, Eddie got his own recording contract with Elektra records.
