ABSTRACT

One of the most respected and prolific music producers in the recording industry, Ramone was a child prodigy and began playing the violin at the age of three. He was so good that by the age of 10 he played a command performance for the Queen of England. As a student at the Julliard School of Music, the teenage Ramone put in grueling days studying and practicing classical violin while simultaneously attending regular high school classes. By the age of 18, he had worked as a performer and composer, traveling and appearing in clubs. Several talented recording engineers became his mentors, allowing him access to the behind-the-scenes world of pop recording. In 1961, he opened his own recording studio in New York City, the legendary A&R Recording, where his skills behind the board as an engineer led to production opportunities. As a result he became as comfortable with the intricacies of producing as he was with the creative process.
