ABSTRACT
A firm established in 1892 in Rahway, New Jersey, with offices later in New York and Chicago. A German named Brachausen formed the company. He was one of the founders of the Polyphonmusikwerke in Germany a few years earlier, and had been employed by the German company that made the Symphonion brand of music boxes. Regina music boxes were essentially Polyphon music boxes at first. In 1898 Regina was marketing coin-op music boxes. The Regina Disc Changer of ca. 1900 played a dozen two-minute steel tune discs. The Reginaphone could play either Gramophone records or steel tune discs, and the Automatic Reginaphone of 1905 was able to play six cylinder records consecutively, one for each coin inserted. A selective coin-op, the Hexaphone, was offered in 1906. The Reginapiano (an inner player) was another product, vacuum cleaners still another.
