ABSTRACT
Sam Moore, born 12 Oct 1935, in Miami, and David Prater, born 9 May 1937, in Ocilla, Georgia, were the most popular Black duo of the 1960s. Both were raised on gospel; their paths crossed on the Southern club circuit. After garnering attention within the Miami club scene, the pair signed with Roulette Records.
