ABSTRACT

A major researcher in audio system theory and design, Small received a bachelor of science degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1956, and went on to obtain an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958. He was employed in electronic circuit design for high-performance analytical instruments at the Bell & Howell Research Center in California from 1958 to 1964, except for a one-year visiting fellowship to the Norwegian Technical University in 19611962.
