ABSTRACT
A system of sonic enhancement for acoustic records, invented by Thomas Stockham. Using digital technology, soundstream adds harmonics that were not produced in the original recording by means of a parallel modern recording of the same work. It reduces surface noise, and brings the singer’s voice forward; but also increases the presence of low-pitched rumble. The most notable soundstream recordings are those of Enrico Caruso, issued by RCA.
