ABSTRACT

The Sub Pop label was instrumental in nurturing the grunge movement that first achieved prominence in the late 1980s. During the half decade preceding this revolution, virtually all of the artists identified with the Seattle Sound would record for the label, including Green River-whose Dry as a Bone EP (Sub Pop #11) was its first record releaseSoundgarden, Mudhoney, Tad, the Walkabouts, and Nirvana.
