ABSTRACT

An American record produced by Grey Gull Record Co. ca. 1929; it had a subtitle “The Record of Today.” It offered dance music and popular vocals, with some jazz numbers.

A paste-over title added to six sides of Nordskog records in 1922 for performances by Kid “Ory’a Jazz Band. The group was identified as Spike’s Seven Pods of Pepper Orchestra. “Ory’s Creole Trombone” and “Society Blues” were the principal numbers; they were among the first jazz records cut by Black artists.
