ABSTRACT

French soprano, born in Montalieu. She studied in Lyon, then sang in Paris and made her opera debut there at the Opera-Comique, as Micaela, on 14 Oct 1912. She remained with the company to 1916, greatly popular as Manon and Mimi. Vallin was at La Scala in 1917, and performed throughout Europe and in Buenos Aires. Late in her career she appeared in America-Chicago and Washington, D.C., but not at the Metropolitan Opera. Vallin taught at the Montevideo Conservatory of Music from 1953-1957, and then retired to Lyons, where she died.
