ABSTRACT

An American record issued from the Vogue Recording Co., Detroit, from May 1946. Tom Saffady was president of the firm. Vogue was the most famous of the picture discs, pressed on vinyl surfaces over an aluminum core, with the illustration sealed inside the vinyl coating. Surfaces were quiet and durability was good. Among the artists signed by Vogue were Phil Spitalny and his “all-girl” orchestra; Art Kassel, Charlie Shavers, Shep Fields, Frankie Masters, Clyde McCoy, and Joan Edwards. There are 98 records listed in Lindsay [1989].
