ABSTRACT
Substance abuse and dependence are common disorders among individuals in the United States, with 35% of males and 18% of females ages 15 to 54 meeting lifetime diagnostic criteria.1These disorders are not only socially and occupationally disabling but are associated with similarly disabling mental disorders in half of these individuals.2 Thus, it is important to be able to quickly and accurately screen for substance use disorders in populations at high risk.
