ABSTRACT
Narrative inquiry has become an accepted mode of qualitative research. While it has gained acceptance, its practitioners have not focused upon explicating criteria whereby its quality can be evaluated. This essay is an attempt to develop such criteria. To begin, issues of definition and general qualitative research evaluation need addressing.
