ABSTRACT

For almost two years I have been involved in an educational program in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In retrospect, it’s been a tough journey! I took on the codirectorship of two initiatives funded by international agencies with a naive belief that our colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh could make a contribution to the educational needs in BiH. By many indications I think we have done so. Along the way, however, we have lost our innocence; we have been consumed by the demands of the work and energized by our successes; and we have experienced the pain of duplicity and deceit. These realizations provided points of departure for the writings that have become part of the Bosnian program.
