ABSTRACT

In the future, people must learn throughout their lives because of the rapidly changing circumstances and society around them. They must continue to learn, since they themselves will change. We view such lifelong learning as a process of “selfactualization of the individual” (Jansen and van der Veeen, 1997) that can be extended to groups, organizations, countries, and the global system. Lifelong learning can also be viewed as a “curriculum for human beings” (May and Furlong, 1997) that is inseparable from one’s own life cycle and development.
