ABSTRACT

In this final chapter we will introduce a framework for highlighting common issues and differences raised in the previous chapters. When examining the similarities and differences between what authors in this volume have to say, we have been struck by the diverse ways of undertaking therapy with people with aphasia. Of course, different individuals need different therapies at different times, but these differences seemed to go beyond what would be expected. We were also noticing that authors in this book had different ways of describing the people they were working with, and seemed to be justifying what went on in their therapies in different ways. In order to show how all of the chapters compare with one another we have applied the framework to all of them. Readers who are less interested in such a comparison and more interested in how the framework functions might want to skip over the details offered in the individual tables.
