ABSTRACT

Tony is a bilingual Portuguese/English-speaking man with aphasia. This study presents some of the projects in which Tony was involved at the City Dysphasic Group (now Connect—the Communication Disability Network). This is a therapy and support centre in London for people with aphasia. The therapies are discussed within the framework for interventions described by Byng, Pound, and Parr (2000). This sets Speech and Language Therapy within the context of a person's whole life, taking into account not only their language and communication impairment but also their psychological state, sense of autonomy, and social identity.
