ABSTRACT
This formulation naturally carries the ambiguities and opacities of any attempt to encapsulate a complex and controversial notion in a relatively short form of words. It is certainly not intended as a forever definitive account. But it does take a stand on the interpretation and relevance of certain issues that recurrently feature in contrasting approaches to communication. Three aspects could do with further comment.
