ABSTRACT
Central Asia has been of fundamental importance in the history and politics of Eurasia. Its geographical contiguity with Russia, China, Iran, and Afghanistan, lends a unique geostrategic importance to Central Asia vis-à-vis Russia. That Central Asia and Russia have been part of a single state system for more than 125 years makes the issue of Russians in post-Soviet Central Asia an important subject of study.
