ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION IN THE last two decades of the twentieth century the extreme right reemerged as a relevant phenomenon all over Europe. Before the 1980s only one party had gained continuous parliamentary representation since the first postwar electionsthe Italian MSI-while two more parties, the Scandinavian Progress Parties-the Danish FRPd and the Norwegian FRPn (formerly the Anders Lange Party)—had surfaced in the 1970s. One more entry may be represented by the National Action and the Republican Swiss parties, both located at the extreme right of the system.
