ABSTRACT
In 1992, Hurricane Andrew killed 23 people in South Florida, about the same number who would have died over a tropical Florida summer week-end among the elderly, critically ill, accidental deaths, murder victims, and vehicle accident victims. Andrew didn’t cause great death, but it did bring to a screeching halt a half million lives. Andrew and its aftermath grabbed the residents of South Florida and spun them around.
