JAMESON, FREDRIC (1934-) American-born Marxist theoretician of culture, language and literature, who has sought to trace the shifting relationships between cultural forms and the historical situations in which they are produced and consumed, and so to illuminate the peculiar trajectory from the modern to the postmodern and beyond.
