ABSTRACT

Interface design guidelines emphasize the importance of designing for a specific audience. However, users of today's web-based communications often include many people who are not part of a target audience. Users visit websites to get information about new products or to explore new artistic, social, and cultural ideas. As a result, interface designers must find ways to engage a broad audience. Search and her team explore how multisensory and personal experiences can be used to make the audience feel welcome in cultural websites.
