ABSTRACT
This chapter is arranged in three sections. The first explores the meanings of care, the factors leading to the concentration of migrant women in ‘care chains’ and the theorisation of the gender-migration-care nexus. The second section focuses on the impact of care migrations upon sending countries in the global South. The chapter ends with a consideration of the challenges migrant women face in host societies and the strategies they deploy in order to survive.
