ABSTRACT
Large business enterprises now play a dominant role in shaping the work and non-work lives of people living in industrial societies. The concentration of ownership and employment within a few joint-stock companies is a phenomenon common to most Western capitalist countries and increasingly is one that crosses national boundaries in the form of the multi-national corporation.
