ABSTRACT
Ecological modernization refers to the theory claiming that there are reformist solutions to the environmental problems facing society. With this pragmatist outlook, it distinguishes itself from critical political economy that suggests that the “ecological crisis” calls for a complete overhaul of Western (capitalist) societies or radical changes in consumer behavior.
