It provides some of the relevant academic evidence in relation to online hatred. The chapter also discusses existing research on/with online hate group members. it examines some of the research limitations, including the challenges that the complexity of online hatred delivers, the ‘end-product-approach’ taken by many researchers, and the lack of knowledge regarding the impact of online hatred on its victims. The chapter explores legislative challenges of online hatred and explains the consequences of online hatred to its victims by drawing on recent suicide cases attributed to online bullying. It presents some of the potential similarities between the impacts of online bullying and online hatred to its victims.
