ABSTRACT

The field of eating disorders has acknowledged that its research findings are not regularly applied in clinical practice, and that the knowledge and observations of clinicians have little impact on the direction of research (Banker and Klump 2010; Mussell et al. 2000). While steps are being taken in the field to bridge research and practice, this endeavor is fraught with even greater levels of complexity in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of people with binge eating disorder (BED).
