ABSTRACT
The subject of political economy is concerned with the circumstances in which people are born and the manner in which they are able to live and die. Since life involves the use of resources, economics—a somewhat more specialized subject of inquiry—studies the strengths and weaknesses of various methods of allocating those resources.
