ABSTRACT

I write as a pediatrician with an abiding concern for infant mortality rates and what they signify. As well, I write as a male with concern for the premature deaths of men. I approach both concerns with an unwavering conviction: Relationships are primary. All else is derivative. The resolution of these public health dilemmas will be found in and through relationships primarily. Advances in and greater access to medical technology and care will reduce mortality rates nominally.
