For these reasons, the second half of the twentieth century can be divided into two periods: 1955-911 and 1992-2000. The analysis of the first period will focus on the comparison of Vietnam’s economic development with that of a number of neighboring Asian countries, the discussion of the second period will mainly assess the achievements of the Doi Moi and the positioning of Vietnam in the Asian economic picture.
