ABSTRACT

Planning for training can be a complex, long-term activity which requires careful thought in relation to the objectives of the organisation and its readiness to fulfil those objectives. It is no longer sufficient simply to allocate a budget and wait for needs to arise. The process of change and development will only be achieved by individual people working in your organisation, and as your best resource they will require investment in order to equip them for the task ahead. Some museums and galleries are now allocating between 2 and 5 per cent of their budget to training needs.
